Where do you get your Inspiration from?

I am always on furniture and decor sites looking for products,

and I make it a habit to save pictures of stuff that really

inspires me. I have a few categories; one is for pictures of

rooms/ looks  or products that I would like to use if I

designed a custom home for myself. Another is for

interesting products, furniture, lighting etc, that I come

across, and the last is decor inspiration that I can refer to

when helping clients out. I think anyone thinking of

redecorating or building a custom home should keep 

their own, "ooh, i like that" file. it's a great reference

point and a great way to communicate with your designer,

decorator or builder.

So here's a peek at some of my faves from 2008.

 People tend to buy "ready made" art because it is convenient and often something you purchase on impulse. I was reading the blog of a decorator who says she can't stand when she walks into a clients house and sees the same art hanging on the wall that you see everywhere, I tend to agree.

I often fall in love with certain pictures and think I want that, then sure enough I walk into the local bistro or cafe and they have the exact collection hanging on their walls, so now I can't possibly buy it...I mean do I really want people walking into my house saying..."hey don't they have that at Starbucks..." or "my friend has the exact same art as you".

 Art should feel personal and original....

In a time when people are especially money conscious it’s nice to know that you still have options, after all of the other sacrifices that you have made to your lifestyle recently, the Interior of you Home doesn’t have to be one of them.

You may not be able to afford to have a design professional redecorate your home, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be able to afford the expert advice that a professional has to offers.
